Ross Takes Hooters Event with 14-Under in Florida

Former EMU golfer, Chris Ross scored a 14-under par in route to his winning the event in Florida

OCOEE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – A 2009 graduate of Eastern Michigan University, and alumnus of the Eagles' men's golf team, Christopher Ross was crowned the champion of the Hooters' Winter Series Golf Tour's event held at Forest Lake Golf Club in Ocoee, Fla. Ross shot a total of 14-under to edge out the competition by just one stroke today, Nov. 16.

The Owosso, Mich. native opened up the event with a five-under par in the first round on Monday. His score was good enough to place him tied for fifth place heading into the second day of the tournament.

Ross matched his previous day's score with another five-under Tuesday, Nov. 15. His score included a pair of eagles to post the second lowest score heading into the final round of play.

The former Eagle was able to notch a four-under Wednesday was good enough to obtain a 14-under total score for the event. Ross' 14-under edged out a trio of golfers who shot just one-stroke less with a 13-under for the tournament.
