Tennis Completes Double-Header Sweep

Eagles beat Golden Grizzlies 7-0
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team turned in a dominating performance against the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies in the second match of a double-header in the season's home opener at the Chippewa Racquet Club in Ypsilanti, Mich.
After defeating the University of Detroit, 7-0, earlier in the day, the Eagles returned for an evening matchup against the Grizzlies, with doubles play starting at 8:30 p.m. The late start, coupled with the earlier matchup, didn't phase EMU, as the team finished doubles No. 1 and 2 only allowing one point.
Singles play continued in the same pattern as Nino Mebuke, Marcela Rivero and Georgia de'Lisle-Tarr combined to allow only one point in the six singles set played between them. On the match, the Eagles did not lose a set in singles play to the Grizz.
"I'm glad to see the ladies pull out the doubleheader sweep today," said Eagles' Head Coach Ryan Ray. "It was a long day of tennis that requires a lot of focus to get the job done. We've found some things that need work this coming week as we push forward."
The Green and White will be in action again at home against Wright State, Friday, Feb. 4, at 1 p.m.
