Tennis Drops Decision to No. 35 DePaul, 5-2

Xu Chang, Georgia de'Lisle-Tarr win singles matches
CHICAGO, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team stood toe-to-toe with the No. 35 DePaul Blue Demons, but was unable to score the upset, falling 5-2 on the raod in Chicago, Ill., Saturday, Jan. 22.
After a tough singles outing yesterday against University of Illinois-Chicago, the Eagles came out with much more intensity agaisnt a better opponent in the Blue Demons, winning two of the six singles matches. Xu Chang and Georiga de'Lisle-Tarr were able to upend their opponents, as Xu rebounded from a first set loss to defeat DU's Selma Salkovic, 5-7, 6-0, 7-5. de'Lisle-Tarr put away Samantha Kaneta 7-6, 6-2.
"I'm much more pleased with today's performance against a stronger team," said Head Coach Ryan Ray. "The team had to fight through adversity and I think they stepped up and played more to their
potential. We're still losing a lot of close sets and we need to get more confidence in those situations."
The Eagles will finally get to enjoy the confines of their home court when it hosts its first home matches of the season, with two against the University of Detroit and Oakland University.
