ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Max Babits had a career day at the Harvey-Simmons Invitational Saturday, Jan. 22, as he and the rest of the Eastern Michigan University men's track team competed against Michigan and other top schools.
The freshman pole vaulter cleared a personal-best 16-06.75 height in the event, securing a first-place finish and good for the second-best vault in the conference this year.
Vanier Joseph and Kevin Lanier also continued to showcase their skills, as the duo finished second and fourth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. The Eagles totaled 14 top-five finishes, including a 2-3-4 finish in the 200-meter dash.
Clint Allen, finishing fourth in the 60-meter dash, also set a new standard this year for the Mid-American Conference, as he raced to a conference-best time of 6.75 in the preliminary race.
The Eagles will next be in competition Jan. 29 when it squares off against Big Ten heavyweights Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin.
