EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University senior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) continued her strong play with a top-15 showing, turning in a 12th place finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational here at the par 72, 6,316-yard Forest Akers West Golf Course, Sept. 25-26. Competing against some of the region's best golfers, the New Zealand native carded a 74 in the final round to finish with a 227 (78-75-74).
As a team, the Eagles finished ninth with a team score of 955 (326-313-316) as the University of Notre Dame took home the invitational hardware with an 890 (298-295-297). The Fighting Irish's Nicole Zhang captured medalist honors with a nine-under 207 (69-67-71).
Senior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) gave the Eagles another player among the top 25, after carding a 78 to finish tied for 21st with a 233 (79-76-78). Redshirt freshman Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) followed with a 241 (83-79-79) while freshman Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) turned in a 256 (86-85-85) for 58th. Sophomore Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) rounded out the lineup with a 257 (88-83-86) for 60th place.
The Eagles are next in action Oct. 8-9 at the CU Heather Farr Memorial Invitational in Erie, Colo.
