ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Redshirt freshman Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) put together an impressive collegiate debut Saturday, Sept. 11, firing an opening-day total of 154 (75-79) on a rain-soaked day one of the Wolverine Invitational on the U-M Golf Course. Kwon tallied three birdies on the day to sit in a tie for 19th place after 36 holes.
The Eagles as a team stand in 13th place at 640 (318-322), four shots behind Kennesaw State. Florida International paces the 17-team field at 593 (301-292), while Augusta State stands in second place at 608 (303-205).
Seniors Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) and Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) are tied for 40th place with a 159. Freshman Corey Crossan (London, Ontario-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) and sophomore Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) rounded out the EMU lineup with 171 (86-85) and a 173 (89-84), respectively.
Min Yean Tan of Michigan leads the 90-player field by a stroke at 146.
The second and final day of the Wolverine Invitational will take place on Sunday, Sept. 12.
