Brad Larente Qualifies for U.S. Amateur

Cambridge, Ontario native to play at Chambers Bay, Aug. 23-29
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Former Eastern Michigan University golfer Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) will compete alongside 312 other golfers from around the country in the 110th U.S. Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash., Aug. 23-29. The Cambridge, Ontario native shot a 137 (65-72) in sectional qualifying action at Marion Country Club in Marion, Ohio, Aug. 2, to advance to the championship.
The U.S. Amateur, the oldest USGA championship, was first played in 1895 at Newport Golf Club in Rhode Island. The event, which has no age restriction, is open to those with a Handicap Index of 2.4 or lower. It is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
