AUSTIN, Texas (EMUEagles.com) -- After two rounds of the Challenge at Onion Creek, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team resides in 12th place with a team score of 605 (308-297) at the par-70 Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Coastal Carolina sits in the top spot with a score of 574. Iowa State and Michigan are tied for second at 575, with Illinois fourth (577), Augusta State fifth (582) and Indiana sixth at 586.
Redshirt freshman Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) paced the Eagles with rounds of 73 and 72 for a 145 and a 16th place tie. Sophomore Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) is tied for 39th place with a 150 (79-71) and freshman Corey Crossan (London, Ontario-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) fired back to back rounds of 77 to sit in a tie for 52nd place.
Rounding out the lineup, freshman Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School)and sophomore Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario-Westside Secondary School) are in 57th and 80th place, respectively.
The Eagles are playing without its usual tandem of seniors Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) and Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion), who both had participated in every match since the start of the 2009-10 campaign.
The Eagles will hope the forecasted rain holds off for the final round tomorrow morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET. It will be the final round of competitive play for the 2010 fall season.
