ERIE, Colo. (EMUEagles.com) -- Senior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) sits in a tie for third place with a two-over par 146 (70-76) at the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational after 36-holes of action here Friday, Oct. 8, at the Colorado National Golf Club. Amidst thunderstorms in the area, Peters fired an opening total of 70 to hold down the top spot on the leader board after 18 holes.

Fresno State's Louisa Lies used a second round 69 to finish the day at three-under par and leads the field by three strokes. Colorado State's Emily Roering is second at even par 144 while EMUs Peters is tied with Colorado's Taylor Doyle in third place at two-over par 146 while CSU's Brianna Espinoza, Northern Iowa's Brianna Espinoza and Kristin Coleman are tied for fifth at three-over par 147.

As a team, the Eagles are in eighth place with a two-round mark of 619 (303-316). Host Colorado took a one-stroke advantage after the first round and the second-best performance in the twice-delayed second round to take a five stroke advantage after two rounds with a 290-300-590 score. Colorado State (595) is in second place, just five strokes back of the Buffaloes, while Fresno State sits firmly in third place (603), eight strokes back of the Rams. Fourth through seventh places are separated by just three strokes as Nevada (611) is fourth, Northern Iowa (612) fifth and Wyoming and Portland State are tied for sixth with two-round totals of 614.

Play was suspended twice because of lightening in the area, the first time from 2:15-2:45 p.m. and the second from 4:05-5:25 p.m. The players were forced to deal with gusty winds along the delays throughout most of the second round.

Senior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) is tied for 10th place following rounds of 77 and 73 for an opening day total of 150. Freshman Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) posted a 159 (77-82) for 43rd place. Rounding out the lineup, Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) and Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario-Westside Secondary School) are tied for 51st and 60th place, respectively.

The third round will get under way Saturday, Oct. 9, at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
