STILLWATER, Okla. –
Eastern Michigan University senior Christopher Ross (Dundas, Ontario-Parkside) closed out his stellar collegiate career Saturday, May 16, firing an eight-over 80 in the final round of the NCAA South Central Regional here at the par 72, 7,407-yard Karsten Creek Golf Course. Ross finished the 54-hole tournament tied for 50th place with a 21-over 237 (77-80-80).

Ross, who started the final round on the tenth hole, encountered bogeys on the No. 2, 6, 8, 13, 16 and 17 holes, while suffering a double bogey on No. 9.

Ross, a 2009 All-Mid-American Conference first team section, was one of 10 at-large golfers selected to play in the regional tournament. He was vying for an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championships, May 26-30, at the at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

The Dundas, Ontario native was one of EMU's most consistent scorers in his four-year career for the Eagles. Ross played in all 12 tournaments this season, averaging 74.0 strokes per round good for fourth lowest in the conference. He had a pair of top 10 finishes, including a fifth-place finish at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate with a 221 (79-69-73). Ross posted nine rounds of par-or-better this season and 41 rounds in his distinguished career. The MAC's 2006 Freshman of the Year, Ross is also ranked 243rd according to the Golfweek/Sagarin system.

One of the best golfers in school history, Ross recorded three top five showings and eight top 10 finishes. In 147 career rounds, he posted a career average of 74.1 and a record 1,889-956 in his four-year career.

The host Cowboys of Oklahoma State University rolled to the regional title with a three-day cumulative total of 881 (296-289-296) with Kevin Tway claiming medalist honor with a 216 (74-72-70). The Cowboys entered the final round with a 13-shot lead and extended their margin to 22 after posting an 8-over 296 for a 54-hole total of 881, 17-over par. OSU excelled on its home course, finishing as the only team with sub-300 scores all three days. 

Arkansas moved up one spot into second and finished with a 903 total, while Tennessee-Chattanooga finished third at 907. TCU and Northwestern finished tied for fourth place at 914 to round out the group of teams ad vancing to the NCAA Championship.

Baylor's Cody Paladino beat LSU's John Peterson on the second playoff hole to earn the regional's individual spot in the NCAA Championship.
