YPSILANTI, Mich. – Coming off a 6-1 win over Michigan State University, April 29, and seven wins in its last 10 games, the Eastern Michigan University baseball team is set to host Mid-American Conference West Division rival Ball State University, May 1-3, for a three-game set at Oestrike Stadium. Game one is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., while games two and three are slated for 3:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.

EMU leads the all-time series over BSU, 65-59-1, but the Eagles dropped two out of three against the Cardinals last season in Muncie, Ind.

The Eagles (15-29, 7-11 MAC) look to inch closer to contention for the MAC Tournament, May 20-23 in Chillicothe, Ohio, as they currently stand ninth overall in the conference. The Cardinals (20-19, 8-8 MAC) currently hold the No. 6 overall spot in the MAC, ahead of Central Michigan University and the University of Akron, who each hold an 8-10 record in league play. EMU has six games remaining against MAC opponents, as they travel to the University of Toledo, May 8-10, before hosting CMU, May 14-16, the final week of the regular season. The Cardinals have six in-conference games remaining as well, as they travel to Northern Illinois University, May 8-10, before hosting Toledo the final week of the season.

On Friday, sophomore right-handed pitcher Corey Chaffins (New London, Ohio-New London) will go for the Eagles against Ball State junior right-handed pitcher Brad Piatt. In game two, freshman right-handed pitcher Jordan Glover (Toronto, Ontario-Ontario Schools) will get the start against senior right-handed pitcher Brenden Sines. In the series finale, sophomore right-handed pitcher and reigning MAC Player of the Week Kolbrin Vitek will get the nod for BSU, while EMU has yet to determine its starter for Sunday's contest.
