Game Two Box Score

ATHENS
, Ohio – The Eastern Michigan University softball team dropped both games of a Mid-American Conference doubleheader, 4-2 and 9-0 in five innings, at Ohio University, April 3. The Eagles rallied to load the bases with two outs in the first game, but were unable to complete the comeback. With the two losses, EMU moves to 13-20 (1-5 MAC) on the season.

In the first contest, the Eagles were able to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning off a Jenny Scherer (Stow, Ohio-Stow-Munroe) double to score Stacie Skodinski (South Bend, Ind.-Washington). The Bobcats responded in the bottom half of the frame, taking a 2-1 lead. Ohio then increased its lead to 4-1 with runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Senior Heather Han (Lafayette, Ind.-McCutcheon) tried to start an Eagle rally with two outs remaining in the seventh inning, hitting her second home run of the year to climb within 4-2. Skodinski then doubled to keep the inning alive and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Scherer drew a walk and Kelsey Greene (Burr Oak, Mich.-Burr Oak) was hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Kaylee Tolliver (Amanda, Ohio-Amanda Clearcreek). Tolliver was unable to complete the rally, popping up to the shortstop to end the game.

Sophomore Jaclyn Caro (Chino, Calif.-St. Lucy's Priory) was charged with the loss in six innings of work to move her record to 8-6. Caro gave up four runs on eight hits while striking out six Ohio batters.

Ohio jumped out quickly in the second contest, as EMU gave up nine unearned runs in the first frame. The Eagles fell victim to six hits and two errors during the first inning of action, putting themselves in an early 9-0 hold. The deficit was too much to overcome, as Eastern fell by the same score in five innings. Junior pitcher Michelle Hletko (Westmont, Ill.-Westmont) pitched 2.1 innings, giving up six runs on five hits.

The Eagles will continue their travels through the Buckeye State, traveling to Akron, Ohio for two games with the Akron Zips. The two teams will square off Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. from Lee Jackson Field.
