DETROIT
, Mich.- The Eastern Michigan University softball team took a pair of games from the University of Detroit, first rallying to defeat the Titans 5-2 in the first contest before rolling to a 12-2, five-inning decision in the nightcap. With the wins, EMU improves to 19-29.
 
Junior outfielder Jenny Scherer (Stow, Ohio-Stow-Munroe) hit two home runs in the second contest, bringing her season total to 11 and 33 in her career. She totaled five RBI in the second contest and five hits on the day. Freshman Sarah Gerber (North Canton, Ohio-Hoover) notched four base knocks with three RBI on the afternoon.
 
The Eagles took the first game from the Titans, 5-2, scoring five unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh innings to earn the come-from-behind win. Sophomore Stacie Skodinski (South Bend, Ind.-Washington) hit her seventh home run of the year, while fellow classmate Lauren Delapaz (Plymouth, Mich.-Canton) registered her first longball of the year.
 
Down 2-0 entering the sixth, Heather Han (Lafayette, Ind.-McCutcheon) singled up the middle, moving to third when Jenny Schererdoubled to left field. Skodinski then homered to center to plate three runs and give the Eagles a 3-2 advantage.
 
The Eagles chalked up two more runs in the seventh, as Allison Scherer (Stow, Ohio-Stow-Munroe) flied out to center to score Michelle Hletko (Westmont, Ill.-Westmont). Delapaz then hit a home run to left center to provide the final margin, 5-2.
 
Sophomore Jaclyn Caro (Chino, Calif.-St. Lucy's Priory) picked up the win, pitching her 17th complete game of the year. Caro (12-13) allowed two runs on five hits while striking out eight.
 
The second contest saw both teams put up two runs in the first frame before the Eagles scored 10 unanswered runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to earn the five-inning, 12-2 decision. Allison Scherer was credited with the win, going 1.2 innings while giving up two runs on three hits. Hletko pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit.
 
Scherer homered in the first frame, scoring Gerber to put the Eagles up 2-0. UDM answered in its half of the inning to tie the game at 2-2. After a scoreless second inning, the Green and White went to work in the third, as Gerber singled up the middle to plate two more runs for EMU.
 
After plating three more runs in the fourth, EMU used another Jenny Scherer home run in the fifth to go along with a Jessica Richards (Canton, Ohio-Jackson) two-run single to earn the run-rule victory.
 
The Eagles return home to Varsity Field to wrap up Mid-American Conference play this weekend, first hosting the University of Toledo, Friday, May 1. The Eagles and Rockets are slated for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
