KALAMAZOO
, Mich. The Eastern Michigan University baseball team split its doubleheader at Western Michigan University Saturday afternoon, April 18, as the Eagles dropped game one, 7-6, but rebounded for an 18-6 win in the game two. The Eagles move to 11-27 (5-10 MAC), while WMU goes to 10-24 (5-10 MAC) on the year.

Sophomore Zack Leonard (Canton, Ohio-McKinley) led the EMU offense in game two, going 4-for-6 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI, while junior Todd Graves (St. Mary's, Ohio-St. Mary's Memorial) had a stellar day, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and a team-best five RBI.

Senior Kyle Rhoad (Fostoria, Ohio-Elmwood), juniors Jim Gulliver (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) and Andrew Marshall (Mason, Mich.-Mason) and redshirt freshman Wally Gerbus (Fairfield, Ohio-Stephen T. Baden) each cracked home runs in the game two win for EMU.

In game one, the Eagles went into the ninth down a pair of runs and managed to pull within one, as sophomore Matt Skirving (Midland, Mich.-H.H. Dow) belted a solo homer to make it a 7-6 game. But for the first and only time all weekend, the WMU pitching staff managed to hold off the EMU offense to seal the win. Skirving went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the game one loss, while Gulliver and junior Aaron Crooks (Toledo, Ohio-Ottawa Hills) each tallied two hits.

The Eagles are back in action Wednesday, April 22, at Oestrike Stadium when they host the Cleveland State University Vikings. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
