Eagles return to action Saturday for a noon match with Oklahoma State
Box Score
WICHITA, Kan.—The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 70 Wichita State University Friday afternoon, Feb. 6, at the Genesis Health Club.
"Wichita State has an outstanding team," said head coach Ryan Ray. "I expect them to climb the national rankings as the year goes along. However, we need to do a better job of keeping ourselves in the match by cutting down on unforced errors. I think we need to focus on better preparation during the week to ready ourselves for the weekends. We'll play outside tomorrow for the first time this season, and we need a good performance against OSU."
Wichita State (3-0) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches. The Eagles were unable to get the momentum going in singles competition, losing all six matches in straight sets.
At the second doubles flight Karina Ahuja (New Delhi, India) and Xu Chang (Beijing, China) won four games, but dropped the match 8-4 to Luftiana Budiharto and Lenore Lazaroiu.
In singles, Ahuja picked up the most games, winning four, but fell 6-3, 6-1 to WSU's Stephanie Dalmacio.
The Eagles will travel to Stillwater, Okla. for a noon matchup with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls Sturday. Feb. 7.
