Alexander Gets First Win at EMU in Dramatic Fashion

ROCK HILL, S.C. – It took all 13 innings for Eastern Michigan University head baseball coach Jay Alexander to pick up his first win in an EMU uniform, as a walk-off double with two outs by junior Andrew Marshall (Mason, Mich.-Mason) in the bottom of the 13th inning scored two runs to give the Eagles a 5-4 victory over George Washington University in their first game of the 2009 season.
Down 4-3 in the bottom of the 13th inning, the Eagles looked for a rally and got one, as a single by sophomore Zack Leonard (Canton, Ohio-McKinley) and walks to senior Aaron Powell (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) and junior Todd Graves (St. Mary's, Ohio-St. Mary's Memorial) loaded the bases for Andrew Marshall, who belted a walk-off two-run double into the right field corner to give the Eagles the win.
