Eagles return to action Saturday, Feb. 14
LINCOLN, Neb.-The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped its third-straight match Friday evening, Feb. 13, to Nebraska University by a 7-0 mark.
"Nebraska has a strong team and did a good job of attacking the ball tonight,” said head coach Ryan Ray. “I think we had some good battles at 2 doubles and 4 and 5 singles, but overall they were better tonight. I think tomorrow will be a competitive battle with CSU, so we will rest up and get ready."
The Eagles, now 2-5 overall on the season were unable to stop a strong Husker squad, who improves to 4-0 overall on the season.
EMU fell behind early, succeeding the doubles point to the Huskers, losing three doubles matches. The team of Karina Ahuja (New Delhi, India) and Xu Chang (Beijing, China) lost a close 8-6 match to Maria Ring and Wiveca Swarting, 8-6.
In singles, Joanna Woo (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Marcela Rivero (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) both took their opponents deep into each set, but were unable to take the win.
The Eagles will return to action Saturday, Feb. 14, to face Colorado State University at Nebraska. The match is set for 11:30 a.m. (CST).
