SECOND CONSECUTIVE HOME GAME: The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team will play its second consecutive home game when the Eagles host Canisius College Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center. The Eagles enter the game with a 4-2 record after a dramatic 76-66 come-from-behind win against Davenport, Nov. 28.
Canisius enters Monday's game with a 3-1 record. The Golden Griffins opened the year with an 89-69 loss at Loyola and have followed with three straight wins: 79-69 at St. Francis, 73-71 at Buffalo and 70-54 at home against Howard. Canisius is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

MEDLOCK SETS PERSONAL BEST: EMU senior guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) came up with a career-best effort in the win over Davenport, Nov. 28, 2009, with 32 points which included five three-point field goals. His 32-point effort was the 11th best in Convocation Center history. He was 8-of-15 from the field, hit 5-of-10 three-point shots and made 11-of-12 free throws against Davenport. For Medlock it was the 61st time in his 83-game EMU career that he has scored in double figures. He has started 82 times.

CHECKING THE SERIES WITH CANISIUS: This year's game will be the second meeting of the series. The two teams met for the first time, Dec. 11, 2004, in EMU's Convocation Center and the Eagles recorded an 86-72 win over the Golden Griffins. 

BIG TEN'S OHIO STATE NEXT: After Monday's, Nov. 30, game against Canisius, the Eagles will head to Columbus, Ohio for a Saturday, Dec. 5, noon meeting with The Ohio State University Buckeyes. The game is slated for ESPNU national television coverage. 

BOWDRY EARNS MAC AWARD: EMU redshirt junior forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) opened the 2009-10 season with a huge effort, recording the eighth double-double of his 65-game career with 26 points and 13 rebounds in an 81-77 non-conference road win at Oakland, Nov. 14. For his efforts, Bowdry was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15. Bowdry made 9-of-14 field goals, 1-of-1 three-point attempts, 7-of-11 free throws for 26 points while hauling down 13 rebounds and adding one assist and one steal in 36 minutes of action. The MAC weekly award was Bowdry's third. He also won the award, Jan. 13, and March 9, in 2009.

LATE-GAME BLITZ: In Saturday's, Nov. 28, home game with Davenport, the Eagles trailed by six, 66-60, with 3:30 left in the game. From that point, the Eagles ramped up the offensive, out-scoring the visitors 16-0 the rest of the game for the 76-66 win. During the final three minutes Eastern also cranked up the defense, turning in several blocked shots to stymie the Panthers' offense.

10th TWINBILL FOR BOWDRY: Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) turned in the 10th double-double of his 70-game EMU career with 21 points and 15 rebounds in the 76-66 win over Davenport, Nov. 28. 

NATIONAL TV PEEK: EMU will have two nationally televised games in the 2009-10 season. The EMU at Ohio State game, set for Saturday, Dec. 5, at noon in Columbus, Ohio, and the EMU at Miami game, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30, at noon, will both be shown nationally on ESPNU. In addition, the EMU at Akron game, slated for Monday, Feb. 1, will be televised by Fox Sports Net.

MEDLOCK, DOBBINS, BOWDRY CLIMB EMU CAREER LADDERS: The EMU trio of Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright), Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville), and Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) are all making major moves up the EMU career rankings in scoring, rebounding and three-point shooting. Medlock is now 22nd in career scoring with 1,104 points while Bowdry has moved up to 37th with 853 and Dobbins is 40th at 843. Bowdry has 466 career rebounds for 25th while Dobbins is 38th in rebounding with 420 and Medlock is 73rd at 241. Medlock is the sixth ranked three-point shooter with 149 career triples and is 11th in career assists at 306. Medlock is the 12th player in school history to reach 300 career assists while Bowdry is the 42nd player in EMU men's hoops history to score at least 800 points.
