EASTERN MICHIGAN IN HISPANIC COLLEGE FUND CLASSIC: The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team closed out play in the Hispanic Fund Classic, Nov. 22, with a 75-61 loss to host Missouri State. Eastern opened the classic with a 63-56 loss to The Citadel Friday, Nov. 20, but the Eagles bounced back with a 76-51 win over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Saturday, Nov. 21. The Eagles closed out the state of Missouri swing with a big 86-76 road win Tuesday, Nov. 24, in Cape Giradeau, against Southeast Missouri State University.

THE HFC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Eastern Michigan redshirt junior Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) was named to the All-Tournament Team and teammate Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) was selected honorable mention for the Hispanic Fund Classic held Nov. 20-22 in Springfield, Mo. Bowdry finished the three-game tournament with 43 points (14.3 avg.), 28 rebounds (9.3 avg.) and one double-double, with 15 points and 11 rebounds against Missouri State, Nov. 22. Dobbins scored 41 points (13.7 avg.) and hauled down 15 rebounds (5.0 avg.) in the tournament.

REACHING MILESTONES: Both Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) and Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) are close to reaching career milestones for the Eagles. Medlock has scored 1,063 career points to rank 22nd in EMU history, passing George Gervin (1,044) for that spot. Medlock has 299 career assists and needs just one to become the 12th player in school history to reach 300. Bowdry has scored 817 career points, becoming the 42nd player at EMU to score 800 points.

BOWDRY EARNS MAC AWARD: EMU redshirt junior forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) opened the 2009-10 season with a huge effort, recording the eighth double-double of his 65-game career with 26 points and 13 rebounds in an 81-77 non-conference road win at Oakland, Nov. 14. For his efforts, Bowdry was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15. Bowdry made 9-of-14 field goals, 1-of-1 three-point attempts, 7-of-11 free throws for 26 points while hauling down 13 rebounds and adding one assist and one steal in 36 minutes of action. The MAC weekly award was Bowdry's third. He also won the award, Jan. 13, and March 9, in 2009.

CHECKING THE SERIES WITH DAVENPORT: EMU and Davenport University will be meeting for the first time when the two square off Saturday, Nov. 28.

BIG OPENING WIN: EMU's opening-game win at Oakland, Nov. 14, came against a Golden Grizzlie team that was picked to win the Summit League in the preseason poll. The win also gives the Eagles an 8-4 advantage in the series.

NINTH TWINBILL FOR BOWDRY: Brandon Bowdry's (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) 15-point, 11-rebound performance at Missouri State, Nov. 22, was the ninth double-double of his career. That twinbill followed up a season-opening 26-point, 13-rebound double-double in the season opener at Oakland, Nov. 14.
