Oestrike Stadium host for Sept. 8 tryouts
YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Eastern Michigan University baseball team will hold open tryouts for walk-ons Sept. 8, head coach Jay Alexander announced earlier today. Tryouts will be held at Oestrike Stadium with a scheduled start time of 3:30 p.m. All people who plan on attending tryouts must see the athletic training staff in the lower level of the Convocation Center to pick up an insurance form. Forms must be completed and turned in the day of tryouts.
Last season, the Eagles claimed both the Mid-American Conference West Division and the MAC Tournament title, as the team upended Kent State University, 12-4, in the championship game. The team finished 2008 with a 25-34 (15-8 MAC) record.
The 2009 season marks Alexander’s first as head coach of the Eagles, who return five starters from last year’s squad.
