FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Eastern Michigan University senior Christopher Ross (Dundas, Ontario-Parkside) picked up his first top 10 finish of the season, with a final round 71 at the Mason Rudolph Championship Sunday, Sept. 28, here at the par-71 South Course at the Legends Club. The Dundas, Ontario native recorded rounds of 74, 67 and 71 for a three-day total of 212 and his seventh career top 10 showing.
The University of South Carolina rolled the team championship with a 54-hole mark of 839 (281-280-278), eight strokes ahead of second place Kentucky. Mississippi State posted an 850 and Middle Tennesee State rounded out the top four with a 854. Eastern Michigan, who moved up two spots during the final round, finished the star-studded event in eighth place with a 867 (289-290-288).
Junior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) trailed Ross by six strokes and finished in a is in an four-way tie for 31st place with 218 (72-74-72). Junior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) was six-over par with a 219 (74-74-71) in 35th. Junior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) notched a 220 (70-76-74) in a tie for 43rd, while sophomore Brade Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) carded a 224 (73-74-76) in a 62nd place.
The Eagles will next tee it up at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., Oct. 27-28, at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate Championship. The power-house field features nine teams that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament.
