ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Junior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) carded a one-under par 70, and sophomore Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) shot an even-par 71, to lead the Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team at the Wolverine Intercollegiate on the par-71, 6,704-yard U-M Golf Course Sunday afternoon, Sept. 21. Jeppesen finished in a tie for 22nd place (75-69-70-70=214) to claim top honors for the Eagles.
Larente posted a tie for 40th place finish for EMU with a score of 218 (77-70-71). Junior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) turned in a round of 76 on the final day of competition for Eastern to tie for 31st with a 216 (72-68-76). Senior Christopher Ross (Dundas, Ontario-Parkside) tallied a score of 75 on Sunday to tie for 47th with a 219 (73-71-75) Sophomore Nic Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) rounded out the lineup with rounds of 77, 76 and 72 for a tie for 69th place. Freshman Zach MacDougall finished with a 77 as an individual to finish with a 231 (81-73-77) on the final day.
Michigan won the tournament with an 11-under score of 841 (282-275-284), edging UC Davis by two shots. California took third with an overall score of 846, while Michigan State finished fourth with a score of 848. The Eagles finished eighth of 16 teams with a total score of 863 (297-278-288).
The Eagles return to the links Sept. 26-27 at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Vanderbilt at Olympia Fields Country Club.
