Sophomore Darby Peters fires a 12-over 228 to finish tied for 15th place

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Sophomore Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) fired a final round 75 to finish in a tie for 15th place with a 228 (76-77-75) Sunday afternoon at the Mary Fossum Invitational on the par-72, 6,316-yard Forest Akers West Course, Sept. 20-21. Kent State University’s Kirby Dreher took home medalist honors with an one-over 217 (69-74-74).
As a team, the Eagles placed ninth with a team score of 940 (307-311-322). Host Michigan State University needed a scorecard playoff in order to take the team title after closing 54 holes tied with Kent State with 891 totals.
Senior Stephany Fleet (Dewitt. Mich.-Dewitt) followed Peters with a 233 (75-78-80), while senior Courtney Aili (Chelsea, Mich.-Chelsea) added a 237 (78-79-80). Junior Marjorie Thout (Joliette, Ouebec-Therese-Martin) and sophomore Lina Pasquali (Kendallville, Ind.-East Noble) rounded out the lineup with a 242 (78-77-97) and a 280 (88-91-91), respectively.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Stephanie Bevington (Ossosso, Mich.-Owosso) tied for 54th with a 243 (88-91-91).
The Eagles return to the links Sept. 29-30 at the Inaugural Zippy Invitational hosted by the University of Akron at Rosemont Country Club.
