Eagles drop a 3-2 decision to Big East Conference member Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team came up just a bit short, dropping a 3-2 decision (25-19, 19-25, 19-25, 26-24, 12-15) to the University of Pittsburgh Friday evening, Sept. 19, in the second game of the Pitt Invitational here at Fitzgerald Field House.
 
With the setback the Eagles fall to 5-8 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 6-7.
 
Junior Victoria Randolph (Cincinnati, Ohio-Mount Notre Dame) posted a double-double with a team-best 15 kills to go along with 13 digs. Sophomore Jennifer Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) notched 12 kills while senior Hayvolla Leite (Paraiba, Brazil-Indian Hills CC) had 11 put-aways. Reigning MAC West Player of the Week Jill Wolosiansky (Uniontown, Ohio-Green) recorded another double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs in the five-set affair.
 
For Pittsburgh, the duo of Kelly Campbell and Meagan Dooley combined for 17 kills a piece as the Panthers hit .164 for the match. Amy Town also added 11 kills on the evening.
 
Eastern Michigan closes out play as the Pitt Invitational Saturday morning, Sept. 20, with an 11 a.m. contest versus Gonzaga University.
