Senior Stephany Fleet fires a one-over 72 to finish third at the prestigious event

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished third at the Wolverine Invitational at University of Michigan Golf Course Sunday afternoon, Sept. 14, with a combined score of 21-over par 305. The host Wolverines won the event by 11 strokes while Minnesota placed second in a tournament that was originally scheduled for 54-holes but was shortened to 18 holes due to the weather that hit most of the Midwest.
The Eagles were led by senior Stephany Fleet (Dewitt. Mich.-Dewitt), who finished second individually with a one-over par score of 72. Michigan’s Ashley Bauer carded a 3-under par 68 to take medalist honors. The finish was Fleet's 10th career top five finish in 32 all-time events and her 23rd top 20 showing.
Senior Courtney Aili (Chelsea, Mich.-Chelsea) finished in a five-way tie for 13th place with a five-over par 76 while sophomore Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) tied for 23rd after carding a 78. Junior Marjorie Thout (Joliette, Ouebec-Therese-Martin) shot a 79 to finish in a tie for 33rd and sophomore Stephanie Bevington (Ossosso, Mich.-Owosso) tied for 55th with a round of 82.
Head coach Sandy Wagner's squad returns to action Sept. 20-21 at the Mary Fossum Invitational hosted by Michigan State University at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.
