Basketball Teams to Assist Boys and Girls Club

Men’s and women’s teams will help in fund raiser, Aug. 2
YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s basketball teams will be on hand Saturday, Aug. 2, when the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan Huron Valley Club in Ypsilanti will host the third annual Score for Kids basketball tournaments, reception and cookout dinner at the Huron Valley Club, 220 North Park St. in Ypsilanti. For the EMU men’s team it will be the third consecutive year for helping out at the fund raiser while the women’s team is in its second year of volunteering.
The players from the EMU basketball teams will help kick off the tournaments, offering tips and encouragement to players beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Score for Kids includes a day-long series of basketball tournaments for club members followed by a reception, dinner and awards ceremony. The event is a great opportunity for sponsors to meet and interact with Club kids, tour Club facilities, and learn about the wide-range of youth development programs offered to the more than 1,180 kids the Club serves each year.
Score for Kids sponsorships are available at four levels. The MVP level sponsors two teams and includes eight tickets; the Dream Team level sponsors one team and includes four tickets; and the All Star level sponsors one player and includes one ticket. Hot Shot sponsorships are available for those who would like to support the Club but are unable to attend this exciting and memorable event. MVP and Dream Team sponsors will receive special recognition at the dinner.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan provide children ages 6-18 a safe place to participate in a variety of educational and recreational programs including: Character and Leadership Development; Health and Life Skills; Education and Career Development; Arts and Cultural Appreciation; Sports, Fitness and Recreation; and more.
