Men's and women's basketball teams take part in EMU Pride Day
YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University athletic department is proud to give back to the community. On June 6, student-athletes from the EMU men's and women's basketball teams joined forces with EMU faculty and staff for the third annual EMU Pride Day, organized by the Business and Finance department and the physical plant.
"We encourage our student-athletes and members of our athletics department staff to become involved in as many community outreach events as possible," EMU director of athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg said. "It is major part of our mission to give back to the local community and we are very excited that our student-athletes and staff have supported a variety of worthwhile causes."
EMU Pride Day was organized to assist the physical plant with campus beautification during the late spring. The volunteers helped plant flowers, spread mulch and weed flower beds in high traffic areas of campus.
