Senior earns the honor for the second consecutive season
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eastern Michigan University senior men's golfer Graham Hill (Brights Grove, Ontario-Northern Collegiate (Indiana (Pa.)) was named Academic All-Mid-American Conference, the conference office announced Wednesday morning, May 28. Hill was also named to the All-MAC first team for his efforts this year.
Hill, who boasts a 3.66 GPA in finance, earned his second consecutive selection to the Academic All-MAC team. In 30 rounds in 2007-08, he averaged 73.2 strokes per round, good for fourth lowest in the Mid-American Conference.
Hill finished in the top 20 in nine events this year, including placing third at the St. Mary’s Invitational, Sept. 10-11, 2007. He recorded 16 rounds this season at par-or-better, including a season-low 69 on four separate occasions. The Brights Grove, Ontario native turned in an eighth place finish at the South Alabama Intercollegiate, Sept. 17-18, 2007, with a five-under 211. On the year, he posted a 750-218 record over the span of 12 tournaments.
One of the best golfers in the program’s history, Hill played in 110 career rounds with an average of 73.2 strokes per rounds. His career average of 73.2 is the lowest for any EMU golfer in recent history.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
