YPSILANTI, Mich.- The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team won its third Mid-American Conference meet of the season, defeating the University of Akron Zips, 172-122, Saturday, Nov. 8 at Jones Natatorium. The Eagles also defeated Xavier University at the double dual meet.
 
With the win, EMU is now 4-1 (3-1 MAC) on the season. Both 400 medley relay teams scored to open the meet, staking the Eagles an early lead. Alissa Ricard (Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina Foothills) then won the 200 freestyle for the Eagles with Ashley Durand (Lincoln, Neb.-Lincoln Southeast), Sheila Carson (Marilla N.Y.-Iroquois) and Chelsea Allard (Walnut Creek, Calif.-Lake Forest) sweeping the 100 breaststroke.
 
Elisa Torres (Antioch, Calif.-Deer Valley) won the 200 fly for the second consecutive day while Ricard picked up another win in the 100 freestyle. The Eagles swept two more events, the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM, wtih Samantha Partridge (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) in the 500 free and Sam Nameth (Mentor, Ohio-Mentor) grabbing individual wins on the afternoon.
 
The Eagles will be back in action Friday, Nov. 14 when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on Purdue University, Ohio State University and Washington State University in a quad-meet. The two-day meet will take place at Purdue University with the teams hitting the pool at 6 p.m. on Friday, with the meet concluding Saturday, Nov. 15 at noon.
