Eagles Downed by Purdue in Two-Day Meet

EMU falls to Boilers, 202-135
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team could not overcome a first-day deficit at the Purdue Challenge, falling to the Purdue University Boilermakers, 202-135, Saturday, Nov. 15. EMU is now 4-2 on the season.
Freshman Samantha Partridge (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) captured the 1000 free, winning the first individual event of the afternoon for the Eagles. Senior Alissa Ricard (Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina Foothills) won the 200 freestyle while finishing runner-up in the 50 free. The Eagles swept the top three spots of the 200 breast, led by Ashley Durand’s (Lincoln, Neb.-Southeast) first place mark. The 400 freestyle relay team closed the meet with a second place finish.
The Eagles will take a few weeks off before hosting the annual EMU Invitational at Jones Natatorium. First day competition is slated for Dec. 5 with teams hitting the water at 3:30 p.m.
