CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team claimed the title of the Comfort Suites Charlotte Invitational with a 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-21), victory over Presbyterian College Saturday afternoon at Halton Arena on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. The Eagles were the only undefeated team in the event, after sweeping Appalachian State earlier in the day and outlasting the host 49ers yesterday.
The invitational title marks the first for EMU since 2005 when the squad took home the UNF Labor Day Classic, Sept. 2-3, 2005, in Jacksonville, Fla. During that weekend the Green and White defeated Charleston Southern (3-0), Jacksonville (3-0) and North Florida (3-1).

With today’s victory Eastern Michigan improves it record to 3-0 on the young season, while Presbyterian falls to 0-3.

Junior Jill Wolosiansky led three Eagles in double-figure kills with 14, senior Becky Reenders tallied 11 and freshman Lauren Boehmer added 10. Defensively, senior Abby Reenders and sophomore Kim Jarzynka set the tone with 22 and 17 digs, respectively.

For the Blue Hose, Justine Lanchester recorded nine kills, four digs and two block assists. For the match, Presbyterian hit just .129 compared to .229 for Eastern Michigan.

The Green and White dominated the match, never trailing past the midpoint of any game except for the third and deciding set.

Eastern Michigan returns to the court Tuesday night, Aug. 28, traveling to Fort Wayne, Ind. for a non-conference match against IPFW. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Hillard Gates Sports Center.
