Men's Golf Finishes 11th at Marshall Invitational

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team struggled in the second round to finish the 38th Annual Marshall Invitational in 11th placeout of 16 teams with a 592 (290-302) here at the Guyan Golf and Country Club. The event was called after 36 holes because of a late start on Saturday because of snowy conditions. Penn State claimed the tournament title by 12 strokes after posting a three-under, 565 (285-280).
Most teams had three holes left of their second rounds after snow postponed play on Friday evening, and all finished their second rounds on Saturday around 1 p.m.
The Nittany Lions won by 12 strokes over Ball State and Marquette, who each finished at 577. Penn State’s Robert Rohanna won medalist honors with a five-under, 137 (69-68). He won by a stroke over teammate Kevin Foley and Marquette’s Mike Van Sickle, who finished at 138.
The Eagles’ top finisher was junior Graham Hill, who ended the tournament with a 146 (71-75, t-14). Other EMU scores were senior Bryan Haase, who finished with a 148 (72-76, t-34), sophomore Chris Ross, who also ended with a 148 (74-74, t-34), redshirt freshman Brandon Lemons, who carded a 151 (73-78, t-54) and freshman Marty Jeppesen, who fired a 155 (78-77, t-75).
Eastern Michigan returns to action in two weeks at the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., April 21-22.
