SOFTBALL WRAPS-UP HOME STAND:
The Eastern Michigan University softball team continues its eight game home stand Tuesday, April 17, with a non-conference doubleheader against Oakland University. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Varsity Field. The Eagles will resume Mid-American Conference play this weekend with a twinbill with Bowling Green State University (April 20) and back-to-back single games with the University of Toledo (April 21-22). The final game with the Rockets will also be Senior Day, where seniors Kayla Bluthardt, Lauren Clark, Michelle Lloyd, Lindsay Schmid, Krissy Threet, Kelly Tomczak and Aimee Woodrum will all be honored before the 1 p.m. game, April 22.

LLOYD NAMED MAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Senior Michelle Lloyd was named Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week. Lloyd threw a complete game two-hitter against Central Michigan University in the nightcap of a doubleheader, April 13. She recorded eight strikeouts and a 1.40 ERA to help the Eagles cruise to a 9-1 victory.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: OU is currently 9-19 on the season. Julie Owen leads the team with 22 hits and four home runs. BGSU has posted a 23-6 record and 8-2 mark in league action, while boasts a 6-24 mark and is 2-8 in MAC contests.

WE’RE GOING STREAKING: Senior Lauren Clark is currently in the midst of a 10-game hit streak. Through the stretch the 2006 MAC Player of the Year has posted a .500 batting average with 17 total hits. She has blasted two home runs, seven doubles and scored 10 runs from her lead-off position in the 10-game span.

LLOYD ON A ROLL: After a 1-5 start to the season, senior Michelle Lloyd has rolled off four straight victories. In her last four games, Lloyd has registered a 0.98 ERA in 21 and 1/3 innings, while recording 25 strikeouts and limiting opponents to a .133 batting average en route to a 4-0 record.

SCHERER EXCELLENCE: Freshman Jenny Scherer has made a huge impact for the Eagles thus far this season. Scherer leads the team in home runs (five) and RBI (19), while totaling a .313 batting average.

SOFTBALL SPLITS HOME OPENER: EMU split a doubleheader with Central Michigan University during the 2007 home opener, April 13. CMU took game one, 7-2, and the Eagles took the nightcap, 9-1, in five innings. Senior Lauren Clark extended her hit streak to a career-high 10 games. In game two, senior pitcher Michelle Lloyd tossed a complete game two-hitter.

EAGLES KNOCK OFF NOTRE DAME: Riding strong pitching from senior Aimee Woodrum, the EMU softball team defeated Notre Dame, 2-1, April 10, snapping the Fighting Irish’s 10 game win streak and handing them their first home loss of the season. Woodrum limited UND batters to just three hits, while recording six strikeouts in the complete game victory.

EAGLES NEST: The Eagles are currently 1-1 at home this year. Last season, the EMU softball team posted a stellar 11-3 record at Varsity Field. The Eagles sport a combined record of 24-6 at home during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Due to snowed out games, the Eagles will play just eight games at home this season.

CENTURY MARK: Senior Lauren Clark has drove in 12 runs this year, giving her 89 career RBI, leaving her 11 shy of 100. Only two players in EMU history have drove in more than 100 runs, Melissa Droullard who holds the record with 124 and Kristie Berry knocked in 118.

CLARK SETS ALL-TIME HOME RUN: Senior Lauren Clark blasted her 20th career home run against Northern Illinois, March 30, to give her sole possession of the EMU career home run record. Clark entered the season in a three-way tie atop the list with Melissa Drouillard and Nikki Denman who each cranked out 19 career homers. Senior Lindsay Schmid blasted her 11th career home run against South Alabama, March 2, a two-run shot that sent the game into extra-innings. Schmid sits at fifth on the all-time list, six behind Liz Flack who hit 17 in her Green and White career.

THERE’S NO E IN SABO: Junior outfielder Stephanie Sabo has been perfect in the field since earning an every day starter role in 2006. In 76 games, Sabo has registered a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. In 2006, she totaled 36 putouts and one assist. Thus far in the 2007 campaign, she has 25 putouts with two assists and is the lone Eagle starter who has not recorded an error.

THREE IN A DAY: The EMU softball team played a tripleheader on the second day of competition at the IU Classic, March 24. The Eagles posted a 2-1 record on the day with wins over the University at Buffalo and host Indiana University. The tripleheader marked the first time that EMU played three games in one day since the 2001 season, but the trifecta is not new to the program. The Eagles played a trio in one day at least once a year spanning from 1982-1999, with the exception of 1985. EMU actually played four games on the same day during the 1983 season, April 15. The then-Hurons posted a 1-3 in the four games.

PITCHING UP THE CAREER LISTS: Seniors Aimee Woodrum and Michelle Lloyd continue to log innings and strikeouts, moving up the EMU career pitching record list in each category. Woodrum (344 and 2/3) became the eighth player in school history to log over 300 innings, while Lloyd (322 and 1/3) became the ninth. The tandem currently ranks fifth and sixth on the EMU career strikeout list with Lloyd leading with 255, while Woodrum has 244. The EMU career leader in each category is Marci Kelly who threw 780 innings and registered 484 strikeouts from 1994-96.
