Frankowski Debuts at No. 16 in Midwest Rankings

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Vanessa Frankowski of the Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team has worked her way into the initial Fila/ITA Midwest Rankings, debuting in the No. 16 slot.
Frankowski, who is ranked 70th nationally, posted a 9-6 record during the fall portion of the Eagles schedule. She carded a 2-2 mark at the Hokie Invitational, defeating Jessica Keener of Marshall, 6-3, 7-5 and Kristin Nimitz of James Madison, 6-2, 6-4.
At the ITA Midwest Regional Championships she posted a 2-1 record on the day, scoring wins over Kylie Moore (Marquette), 3-0 (retired, injury) and Gergana Ganeva (DePaul) 6-1, 7-6 (6) before falling to No. 108 ranked Jacqueline Lee (Iowa), 7-6 (3), 6-2.
The Midwest Region is comprised of 46 schools from the Big Ten, Big East, Atlantic Ten, Horizon, Mid-American, Summit, Missouri Valley, and Ohio Valley Conferences.
Frankowski and the Eagles will pick up action again after the new year, starting with a match against Indiana State in Terra Haute, Ind., on January 19, 2008. Match time against the Sycamores is set for 6 p.m.
