Eagles offer a helping hand during the holiday season

YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University baseball program teamed up with the Warm the Children campaign to help provide winter clothing for the children of needy families. This year, 29 Eagle players were able to help 31 children from 12 families with their winter clothes shopping.

Beginning each fall a newspaper asks its readers for monetary donations to the newspaper's Warm the Children Fund.  The money that comes in is deposited in a local Warm The Children bank account, and is used exclusively to buy new winter clothing for needy children in the newspaper's community.

“We would like to extend our thanks to the players, Jim Mulchay and the Ann Arbor News for their efforts in the Warm the Children project,” said assistant coach Del Young. “The project was again a great success; reaching out to the community and helping to not only provide clothing for the kids, but also to put a smile on their faces during the holiday season.”

The players and their paired families shopped at the Meijer retail store on Carpenter Road, with each child receiving 90 dollars to spend.
