EMU evens conference record at 2-2
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team defeated Bowling Green State University, 2-0 here at Cochrane Field. The Eagles were led by freshman goalkeeper Maggie Manville, who notched her third career shutout.
With the win the Eagles improve to 4-5-2 (2-2 MAC) while Bowling Green falls to 4-7-1 (1-3 MAC).
The Green and White scored quickly, with sophomore Maggie Christensen scoring her fifth goal of the season at the 14:45 mark. Sophomore Ashley Rodrigues and freshman Stephanie Janssens were credited with the assist.
EMU would strike again in the second half when Rodrigues took a pass from Janssens to score her second goal of the season. The EMU defense would remain stingy, as Bowling Green would not score. Manville recorded four saves on the day.
The Eagles head home for a four-game home stand, beginning Friday, Oct. 12 when they play host to Akron. Game time is set for 3 p.m. EMU will remain in MAC action when Ohio travels to Ypslianti Oct. 14, for a Sunday afternoon match set to begin at 1 p.m.
