EMU HOME TO BATTLE CENTRAL AND DETROIT:
The Eastern Michigan University men’s indoor track and field team will host its first home meet of the young season Saturday, Jan. 27, as they play host to the Chippewas of Central Michigan University and the Titans from Detroit at noon on the Bob Parks Track in Bowen Field HouseLAST TIME OUT: The Eagles did not have to travel very far to compete in the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, held just down the road last Saturday, Jan. 20, in Ann Arbor. Senior Matt Pinter (Big Rapids, Mich./Big Rapids) claimed first place for the second straigt week in the weight throw competition with a distance of 59-feet-2.25 inches.Three other Eagles notched wins including sophomore David Brent (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) in the mile run (4:11.16), junior Joel Kirsch (Wyoming, Mich./Grand Valley State) in the 800-meter run (1:55.48) and senior Adam Kring (Jeddo, Mich./Port Huron Northern) in the high jump (7-feet-0.50 inches)
EAGLES PICKED TO WIN THE MAC: The Eastern Michigan University men's indoor track team was picked to finish first in this year's Mid-American Conference preseason track and field coaches poll, the league office announced Jan. 5.
The Eagles look to defend their MAC title this season against conference foes including the Golden Flashes from Kent State University and the Central Michigan University Chippewas who were slated to finish second and third, respectively.
Under the leadership of head coach Brad Fairchild, the Eagles look to capture their 11th MAC Championship in the last 12 years and second in as many seasons.
