ATHENS, Ohio – The Eastern Michigan University (5-9, 0-4 MAC) volleyball team was defeated by No. 21 Ohio University, 30-28, 30-22, 30-19, Saturday night here at the OU Convocation Center. The victory extended the Bobcats’ recent dominance over the Eagles, running the Ohio winning streak against EMU to five matches dating to the 2002 campaign.

Senior Lindsay Piccolini recorded 15 kills for EMU, which was out-hit .299 to .146 for the match. It was the 13th time in 14 matches that Piccolini has reached double-digits for kills. Junior Becky Reenders added 10 kills while freshman Victoria Randolph turned in a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.

The nationally-ranked Bobcats (13-3, 4-0 MAC) had four players with double-digit kills. Ohio was led offensively by freshman Ellen Herman, who had 14 kills and senior Savanah Parra, who finished with 38 assists. Senior Michaele Blackburn had a match-high 19 digs.

Ohio jumped out to a 13-9 lead in the first game and never looked back. The Bobcats out-hit the Eagles .164 to .145 in the first frame. Piccolini led the way with five kills and a .500 attack percentage and senior libero Ashley Cudney had five digs to keep things closer in game two but Ohio used an 17-8 run halfway through the game to give them a 26-19 advantage en route to the victory.

The Bobcats jumped out to a big lead early once again in game three to close out the Eagles.

The Eagles return to Ypsilanti Tuesday, Oct. 3, for a non-conference tilt versus IPFW. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
