Sophomore earns first weekly conference accolade

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eastern Michigan University sophomore Stephany Fleet (Dewitt. Mich. (Dewitt) was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the period ending Sept. 24. The award marks the first time in her career that she has claimed the weekly league accolade.

Fleet fired a five-over-par 221 (73-76-72) to finish in second place at the Lady Irish Invitational at the Warrern Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., Sept. 23-27. Fleet’s finish marked her fourth-career top 10 finish and fifth consecutive top 15 showing dating back to the EKU Spring Invitational, April 6-8, 2006. As a team, the Eagles third with a team score of 928 (307-314-307).

Head Coach Sandy Wagner’s Eagles will return to action at the Wolverine Invitational Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich. The 54-hole event will be contested on the par-72, 5,966-yard course with 36 holes played on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.
