, Colo. Northern Colorado used a 20-8 run to open the second-half to knock off the EMU men’s basketball team, 76-70, at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion in Greeley, Colo. Friday, Dec. 30. The Eagles trailed by two-points at the half, 35-33, before the Bears took control in the second-half shooting 48.1 percent from the floor (13-of-27). Senior John Bowler turned in a 21 points and 10 rebounds while freshman Carlos Medlock added 20 points in the setback.

With the win, the Bears improve to 1-14 on the season, while the Eagles drop to 3-5. 

The Bears outrebounded the Eagles 40-32 and outscored Eastern in the paint 38-26.

The score was tied two times and the lead changed 11 times in the game. The Eagles led 23-17 with 9:39 remaining in the first half but the Bears pulled away in the second. Northern Colorado was up by as many as 16 points with 6:28 to play in the game.

The Bears shot 49.1 percent from the field and made nine of five three-pointers. The Eagles had a 43.1 percent field goal percentage and made six of 20 three-pointers.

EMU opens the Mid-American Conference portion of the season Wednesday, Jan. 4, traveling to the University at Buffalo.
