Trevor Beerman was named the ninth head baseball coach in Eastern Michigan University history on June 9, 2026, after serving as the program's interim head coach during the 2026 season. Beerman enters his fourth year with the Eagles in 2027 after previously serving as EMU's recruiting coordinator, outfield coach, and offensive assistant from 2023-25.
A rising leader in collegiate baseball, Beerman has built a reputation as one of the nation's emerging recruiters, player developers, and program builders. His coaching experience spans the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels, where he has helped elevate programs through player development, recruiting, and culture building.
During his first season leading the Eagles in 2026, Beerman managed all aspects of the Division I program, including roster construction, recruiting, staff oversight, player development, compliance, budgeting, and alumni relations. Eastern Michigan finished the season 19-34 overall and 12-21 in Mid-American Conference play while navigating one of the nation's largest senior classes and significant roster turnover. The Eagles matched their conference win total from the previous season and recorded several notable achievements throughout the year.
One of the signature moments of the season came when Eastern Michigan swept rival Central Michigan in a three-game series for the first time since 1983. The Eagles also produced 95 doubles, 79 stolen bases, and 245 walks while posting a .975 fielding percentage that ranked fifth in the MAC and among the top 80 nationally.
Under Beerman's leadership, the program continued its commitment to academic excellence. During the Winter 2026 semester, baseball posted a department-best 3.481 team GPA and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.545. Five student-athletes, John Carmichael, Cole Egan, John Hale, Bruce Jellison, and TJ Williams, earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
Player development became a hallmark of Beerman's tenure. Catcher Nick Weaver earned Mid-American Conference All-Defensive Team recognition after leading the conference and ranking third nationally with 28 runners caught stealing. Weaver became only the third player in program history to receive MAC All-Defensive Team honors.
Prior to serving as interim head coach, Beerman helped guide the Eagles' offensive resurgence and recruiting efforts from 2023-25. During that span, Eastern Michigan returned to the MAC Tournament in 2025 for the first time since 2018 and secured the program's first postseason victory since 2017.
The Eagles made significant strides offensively during Beerman's tenure as an assistant coach. In 2024, EMU hit .300 as a team, ranking third in the MAC while finishing second in doubles and among the conference leaders in on-base percentage and stolen bases. In 2025, Eastern again ranked among the conference leaders in batting average, on-base percentage, doubles, and runs scored while reducing strikeouts and improving offensive efficiency.
Beerman also made an immediate impact on the recruiting trail. His 2026 transfer portal class ranked second in the Mid-American Conference and among the nation's top 100 according to 64 Analytics.
Before arriving in Ypsilanti, Beerman served as the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach at Chatham University from 2022-23. There, he helped engineer one of the most successful stretches in program history as the Cougars set school records for wins, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, and walks. Chatham also produced its first First Team All-Conference selection during his tenure. Beerman spearheaded the largest recruiting class in program history while implementing data-driven player development systems utilizing Rapsodo, Blast Motion, and Synergy technologies.
Prior to Chatham, Beerman spent the 2021 season as recruiting coordinator at the University of Charleston, helping the program reach the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament for the first time in school history. He assisted with scouting, recruiting, game planning, and player development during the historic campaign.
His coaching journey also includes stops at Hillsdale College and Bluffton University, where he worked with multiple position groups, coordinated recruiting efforts, and assisted with all aspects of program operations.
A native of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Beerman played collegiately at Malone University, helping the Pioneers reach two Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament championship games. He earned a bachelor's degree in sports management from Malone before completing a Master of Business Administration in Leadership from Bluffton University.
Beerman and his wife, Kaela, welcomed their son, Kayson, in July 2025.
