Libby Cole is in her first year as an assistant athletic trainer at Eastern Michigan University and will work primarily with the lacrosse program that is set to play its inaugural season in 2023.
Cole comes to Ypsilanti from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where she had worked since 2017. While with the Owls, Cole worked directly with the women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and softball teams. In her final season with the Owls, the women’s swimming and diving team captured the 2022 NCAA Division III Championship.
A native of Beavercreek, Ohio, Cole is a 2012 graduate of Miami University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. Following graduation, Cole served as a certified graduate assistant athletic trainer at Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio, where she worked with the women’s soccer program from 2012-14 and earned a Master of Arts in Physical Education with a concentration in Sport Management. From there, she worked as an assistant athletic trainer from 2014-17 at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.
In addition to her time among the collegiate ranks, Cole spent five summers working at Woodward Camp, an action sports, gymnastics, and cheer camp in Pennsylvania. While there, she had the opportunity to work with professional skateboarders, BMX bikers, and gymnasts and gained experience with foam pit, ramp, and skate bowl removals.
A member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association since 2010 and BOC certified since 2012, Cole holds certifications in Integrative Dry Needling and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and also is a Michigan Licensed Athletic Trainer.
