Bryce Richard is in his third full season as an assistant sports performance coach at Eastern Michigan University in 2024-25. Richards works directly with the football and tennis programs.
He arrived in Ypsilanti after a stop at the University of Akron in 2021 as an assistant sports performance coach. He has previous stints at the University of Kentucky (2019-20) and Washington State University (2018-19).
At one point, Richard was the youngest Division I “Power 5” assistant strength coach in the nation at just 22 years old. While with the Wildcats, UK appeared in two bowl games (2019 Belk Bowl and the 2020 Gator Bowl). During the two-year stretch in Lexington, he helped the team recorded 15 total wins and seven wins over Southeastern Conference opponents.
Originally, the Crystal River, Fla. native attended Washington State University as a preferred walk-on for football in the fall of 2016. However, after multiple injuries, he joined the Strength and Conditioning internship program in 2018 and stepped away to focus on his career by working with the WSU S&C staff.
In 2019, Richard was the grand prize award winner for the Bruya Wood Exercise Physiology Conference.
A multi-sport athlete, he competed in football, basketball, wrestling, rugby, and track & field. He collected all-conference honorable mention accolades at both tight end and outside linebacker.
He earned his degree from WSU in 2019 with a bachelor’s in kinesiology/exercise science with minor in strength & conditioning.
Richard is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS, NSCA), a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Certified Sports Performance Coach, as well as having a certificate in Mental Health First Aid.
