David Boylard enters his second season as an assistant coach.
Bolyard, a 2005 graduate of CMU was a four-time national qualifier and 2005 MAC champion in the 165 lbs. weight class. As a senior he carded a 33-5 overall record and was ranked as high as second nationally in his final season. He won a school-record 21 straight matches during his senior campaign.
Following his senior season, Bolyard won the Chick Sherwood Award, presented annually to CMU’s most valuable wrestler. He ranks seventh all-time with 109 career wins and his 22 falls are tied for the 10th most in school history.
He finished second at the MAC Championships each of the first three years of his collegiate career, and each time earned a wild card berth in the NCAA Championships. His best performance at nationals came as a junior in 2004, when he strung together four straight wins in the consolation bracket en route to a sixth-place finish and All-America honors.
Bolyard also claimed a championship at the prestigious Midlands Tournament during his junior season. He was CMU’s first to win at Midlands since 1999.
The 25 year-old Bolyard earned his degree in entrepreneurship from CMU in 2005 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in athletic administration
