Corey Calcamuggio is in her first season as the team’s student-assistant coach. The Lambertville, Mich. native spent the past four years as student-athlete for the Eagles, accumulating 206 kills and 203 digs in 208 games.
An ultimate utility player for coach Berrington, Calcamuggio played as an outside attacker, right side attacker, middle blocker, serving specialist and defensive specialist during her career.
Coming to EMU as a walk-on and later earning a scholarship, Calcamuggio played in 73 games last season. She posted a career-best 114 digs in 2007 to go along with her 23 put-aways. In 2006, she played in 25 matches, recording career-bests in nearly every statistical category. Calcamuggio posted a career-high 11 kills and added four blocks in a victory against Kent State, as she totaled 15 matches with at least five kills as a junior.
A graduate of Bedford High School in Temperance, Mich., Calcamuggio is expected to graduate later this year with a degree in physical education with a minor in health.
