Ashley Cudney is in her first season as the team’s student-assistant coach. The LaPorte, Ind. native spent the past four years as EMU’s starting libero, accumulating an EMU career-record 2,198 digs in 441 games.

Cudney was the first libero ever recruiting by head coach Kim Berrington. In her career, she compiled 44 matches with 20-or-more digs, including a breaking the school-record and tying the Mid-American Conference record with 50 against Northern Illinois.

With her performance Cudney became one of just 15 players in NCAA Division I history to post 50-or-more digs in a match. For her efforts was named the MAC Volleyball Player of the Week.

Every year in her career Cudney has improved her defensive presence, after averaging 3.8 digs per game as a freshman she finished third in the league as a senior with 5.87 digs per game.

During her junior campaign, Cudney recorded a team-high 554 digs en route to ranking second in the MAC and 22nd in the nation in digs per game. As a sophomore, she ranked 45th in the nation with 5.01 digs per game.

A graduate of LaPorte High School in LaPorte, Ind., Cudney is expected to graduate later this year with a degree in elementary education.
