Emily Burgess enters her sixth year as an assistant sports performance coach at Eastern Michigan University in 2024-25.
Burgess arrived in Ypsilanti after a nine year stint (2010-19) as a human performance specialist at St. Vincent Sports Performance.
She was also the head strength and conditioning coach at University High School in Carmel, Ind. from 2016-19.
Burgess previously worked in the professional ranks, serving as the head strength and conditioning coach form WNBA’s Indiana Fever (2010-15) and the USHL’s Indiana Ice (2010-13).
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Burgess played softball at Division II Slippery Rock University. She graduated from SRU with a bachelor’s degree in 2009 and added a master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 2010.
Burgess has her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
She and her husband, Jason, reside in Ypsilanti.
