PERSONAL: Full name: James Ervin...Born: 6-25-90...Biology major...EMU: 2008: Signed with EMU late in the summer and practiced with the team, but did not play in any games and will have freshman eligibility in 2009...Selected as one of the Practice Team Eagles of the Week twice, for the Indiana State (Aug. 28) and Bowling Green (Oct. 4) games...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Nacogdoches H.S. in Nacogdoches, Texas where he played high school football for Head Coach Bill Harper...One of the assistant coaches on the Nacogdoches team is Matt Gregory, a former EMU football player (1994-96)...Senior Year: Named to the Class 4-A All-State team by The Associated Press...Also selected second-team All-East Texas by Texas PrepInsider.com...Chosen to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star game in the summer of 2008 and responded with a first-half interception and a recovery of an onside-kick to set up the game-winning field goal for his North team in a 16-15 win over the South...Junior Year: Selected second-team All-State by The Associated Press and first-team All-District 12 4-A after recording 137 tackles, two sacks and 18 tackles-for-loss...Sophomore Year: Named third-team All-State 4-A by the Texas Sportswriter’s Association.
