    Asst. Coach (Receivers)

Scott Weaver is in his fifth year as an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University and his second as the receivers’ coach. In his first three years he coached the running backs.

Last year, under the 34-year-old Weaver (10-15-73) tutelage, EMU averaged 181.0 yards per game through the air for an average of 10.1 yards per catch. Receivers for the Green and White brought down 13 of the team’s 17 passing touchdowns.

In 2006, Weaver oversaw the running backs corps which finished eighth in the league in rushing offense at 105.8 yards per game.

The 2004 season proved to be the watershed year for the EMU rushing offense, piling up huge yardage using the spread offense, to finish 21st in the nation in total offense, rolling up an average of 427.91 yards per game. The Eagle offense had six games of 30 points or more, including a 61 point output in a four overtime victory over rival Central Michigan University. Under his direction, Anthony Sherrell garnered second team All-MAC honors by rushing for 854 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Weaver joined the EMU staff in the summer of 2004 after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant football coach at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where he coached the running backs in 2000 and the quarterbacks for the past three years.

During his tenure on the Edinboro staff, Weaver helped the team finish the 2003 season with a 9-3 record, including a spot in the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in eight years. He was also the athletic study program coordinator at Edinboro from 2000-02.

Prior to his Edinboro experience, Weaver was the quarterbacks coach at Tiffin University in 1998 and 1999.

A native of Beaver Falls, Pa., Weaver went on to enjoy an outstanding intercollegiate football career at the University of Illinois where he was a four-year starter at quarterback, finishing as the seventh best passer in school history. He was the ABC Player of the Game versus Michigan in 1994 and in 1996 he was named the recipient of the George Huff Scholar-Athlete Award at Illinois. He completed his bachelor’s degree in speech communications at Illinois in 1996 and earned a master’s degree in business administration in 1998.

After completing his undergraduate degree in 1996, Weaver spent a year working in the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics as a fund-raiser and marketing assistant.

Weaver and his wife, Kimberly, have two daughters, Claire Elizabeth (11-3-04) and Reagan (10-23-06).
