Entering his first season working for quality control is Garrett McKay. McKay will work primarily with the offense in 2019.
McKay arrives in Ypsilanti after standout career at Whitworth University where he was a four-year letter winner for the Pirates. A native of Tacoma, Wash., McKay totaled 270 catches in his career for 3,100 yards receiving and 22 touchdowns. He also averaged 19.8 yards a return on kickoffs and 9.2 yards a punt return over the course of his 44-game career.
McKay helped lead the nationally 15th-ranked Pirates to a 10-1 overall record and the 2018 Northwest Conference title with a 7-0 mark. Overall, he was a three-time All-NWC selection and a two-time captain.
He completed a strength and conditioning internship at the University of Washington in 2019 prior to joining the EMU staff.
McCay earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Whitworth in 2018.
